The Oscilloworld Story

Oscilloworld radio started as an idea in August '99. Very soon it was clear, that this new internet radio, which was planed as a Hardcore(Gabber) radio, should play the whole sounds of the electronic music scene aside the mainstream. The first test-transmission started in the end of August '99. And in September '99 the first official transmission followed. At that time as a monthly published and 30 minutes long live-transmission under Radio Destiny.

The name "Oscilloworld" comes from an experimental track named "Oszilloworld". This title is put together of the word "Oscilloscope" and the title of a track from Kraftwerk named "Computerwelt" (translated "Computerworld").

Oscilloscope - Computerworld

Because the computer, where Oscilloworld radio was produced and broadcasted, didn't dispose of the sufficient ressources which a live-transmission under the Radio Destiny System required, a new search for a new internet radio system began. This was found in the Shoutcast Radio System early in December '99. The December-transmission was already presented with the new radio system. Here was also the conversion from a live-transmission to a previously produced transmission to use all computer-ressources for broadcasting.

From the February-transmission '2000 the size was extented from 30 minutes to 60 minutes to reach more listeners. And in spite of some small technical problems, the number of listeners in the following transmissions increased. One of the program-highlights (close to the well mixed mixtapes of the November and June transmission) was the "summer special" in July and August '2000.

Oscilloworld Story part 2

To mention is the dramatic highlight in spring 2001, additionally to the large Datacrash, which led to the loss of the old transmissions, there were also difficulties with the connection to the Shoutcast server. The broadcasting of Oscilloworld over the Live365 server was meant only as an emergency solution, but became standard. During this phase the March-transmission was produced, which had the title "IN CASE OF EMERGENCY Industrial Mix".

The broadcasting over Live365 made it also possible to transmit Oscilloworld 24 hours a day which made it also possible to reach more listerners.

Also there were some changes on the website. To mention is the new URL and the webcam.

In summer 2001 it was again the time for the "Oscilloworld Summer Special" - that year it was the big "Oscilloworld Industrial Fest" - 4 hours Industrial nonstop.

In October osc2 ("oscilloworld 2") started to broadcast. This channel played also the old Oscilloworld-transmissions.

Highlights of the year 2001 were of course the Spacenight Remixes and the "krank" Industrial Mix.
